Ever wonder why people push back on your proposals, or nod along in the meeting and then quietly do nothing? Why moving someone from “no” to “yes”, or even to “maybe”, can be so much harder than it should be?

This session explores the science of how people actually change their minds, and introduces Collaborative Influence: an approach that creates the conditions for someone to shift their thinking, rather than pushing harder or arguing louder. |
What you'll learn
Collaborative Influence
An approach to moving people that works with them, not against them. Instead of pressing your case harder, you create the conditions in which someone can genuinely rethink their position.
Why pushing harder backfires
When someone resists, the instinct is to argue more and pile on the evidence. The research shows this usually entrenches them further. We'll look at what actually opens a mind, and why it's rarely a better argument.
What you can do differently
A practical first move you can use the next time you need to bring someone with you, whether it's your boss, a peer, or someone who doesn't report to you at all.
This session is for you if…
- You're a people manager, HR or L&D leader, or coach, and much of your impact depends on bringing others with you, often people who don't report to you.
- You've noticed that the best argument doesn't always win, and that being right is rarely enough to change what someone does.
- You'd like 60 minutes with peers who take influence seriously as a leadership skill, not a clever trick.

About Gerry Murray
Gerry has spent his career trying to move people and ideas forward. Nine years in communications at DHL's World HQ, then consulting, training and coaching with large global organisations and the EU, where getting anything done meant winning support rather than giving instructions.
Hosting 100+ episodes of the Leading People Podcast has put him in conversations with some of the world's leading thinkers on leadership, persuasion and human behaviour. Seeing how often good people with good ideas still struggled to bring others with them is what led him to develop his Collaborative Influence approach.

Quick questions
Is it really free?
Will there be a recording if I can't attend live?
What happens after I register?
Can I bring a colleague?
One last thing
The people you most need to bring with you rarely respond to a stronger argument. What changes a mind goes beyond what we bring to the table. That is what Collaborative Influence is built on.
Sixty minutes. FREE. Bring your curiosity.
